    Great Story, Decent Audiobook

The audiobook version of Layers delivers a strong psychological thriller with an engaging, unsettling story that stays with you. The writing and character work are the real highlights. The audio narration is solid but uneven at times—pacing and emphasis occasionally distract from the tension. It’s not a bad production, just one that could have been more polished. Worth listening to for the story alone, but it doesn’t quite elevate the material.

Better than I expected on audio

I listened to Layers as an audiobook and found it very effective in that format. The narration suits the slow, uneasy pace of the story and really helps build the tension without overdoing it. The quieter moments worked especially well when listened to, and the sense that something isn’t quite right came through clearly. It’s not a fast listen, but it kept my attention and made the psychological side of the story feel more immediate.

An audiobook that adds another layer

I listened to Layers as an audiobook and the two narrators make a huge difference. Having both a female and a male voice sharpens the shifts in perspective and adds tension you might miss on the page. The performances are controlled and unsettling, perfectly matching the psychological tone of the story. It’s one of those audiobooks that pulls you deeper rather than distracting you.

    Good read

I really liked Layers. The story of a young girl looking for the killer of her mother, and finding out the truth how she really died. Even the bit about the love interest in the wheelchair, later. Really enjoyed it.
